Lessons in the Art of the Blacksmith
A metalsmith is an artistic blacksmith. However, blacksmithing is not defined by a time period or an artistic motif. Blacksmithing is defined by the process alone. Here, blacksmith process is illustrated & explained.

Rosette by the author, for the Francis Whitaker Project in Alfred, NY, 1996. It stems from a European motif, done for Samuel Yellin by Francis Whitaker in 1921 and done again, by George Dixon, 75 years later at an ABANA Conference (Francis Whitaker Grille Project, Alfred, NY, 1996).
Blacksmithing is not defined by time period of decorative motif. Blacksmithing is defined by process alone.
