The Coal Fire

Heat zones within a blacksmith's coal fire (oxidizing, neutral, carburizing) If the fire is deep enough (app 8 -10") there will be three distinct 'layers', or zones, within the combustion column. In a shallow fire these zones are too narrow to be functional.
